1. Spirulina: *

Spirulina algae is unusual among algae because it is a “nuclear plant”; meaning it is on the developmental cusp between plant and animal. It is considered somewhat above plantlife because it does not have the hard cellulose membranes that are characteristic of plant cells- nor does it have a well defined nucleus. This allows it to be highly digestible in comparison with other algaes such as chlorella.

Organic raw spirulina is a type of live blue-green algae and a natural source of small quantities of iodine / potassium iodide (KI). Iodine is an essential chemical element, used in the production of thyroid hormones that regulate growth and metabolism. Iodine deficiency can lead to an increased risk of pediatric cretinism, mental slowness, lethargy, fatigue, depression, high lipid levels, weight gain and goiter. Natural sources of potassium iodide (KI) / iodine like that found in spirulina, is absorbed by the body more slowly and safely than synthetic iodine. Furthermore, spirulina possibly helps to promote an alkaline pH balance and support a healthy immune system.

Nutritional statistics of Raw Organic Spirulina:

Among some of the most interesting health benefits and their recent scientific findings:

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Prevention: The 2003 study in Italy as published in the Italian Journal of Biochemistry showed that Turmeric protects against Alzheimer’s disease by ‘activating’ a gene that codes for the production of the antioxidant protein bilirubin, which protects the brain against injury from free radicals which are thought to be a responsible for neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Another study conducted at UCLA and published in the December 2004 issue of the Journal of Biological Chemistry, which has been confirmed by further research published online April 20, 2006, in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, provides further insight as to how Turmeric provides multiple areas of protection against the mechanisms which cause Alzheimer’s. This research was so profoundly exciting to researchers that human clinical trials to further investigate Turmeric’s potential will soon be underway”.

A Potent Anti-Inflammatory: Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory effects have been shown to be comparable to the potent drugs hydrocortisone and phenylbutazone as well as over-the-counter anti-inflammatory agents such as Motrin. And unlike lab-produced pharmaceutical drugs, Turmeric has been shown to produce no toxicity, nor the kinds of stomach problems that commonly occur with pharmaceutical anti-inflammatory drugs.

Rheumatoid Arthritis: Many clinical studies have shown that the antioxidant properties of Turmeric help fight the free radicals responsible for the painful joint inflammation of arthritis. Turmeric’s combination of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects explains why many people with joint diseases find relief when they use the spice regularly, and in a recent study of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, Turmeric was compared to phenylbutazone and produced comparable improvements in shortened duration of morning stiffness, lengthened walking time, and reduced joint swelling.

Cystic Fibrosis: Curcumin, the major constituent of turmeric that gives the spice its yellow color, could help correct the genetic defect that is responsible for cystic fibrosis, as suggested by an animal study published in the April 2004 issue of Science. Cystic fibrosis, a fatal disease that attacks the lungs with a thick mucus, causing life-threatening infections, and afflicts about 30,000 American children and young adults, who rarely survive beyond 30 years of age.

Colon and other Cancers Prevention: Turmeric’s antioxidant effects help protect the colon cells from free radicals that can damage cellular DNA — a significant benefit particularly in the colon where cell turnover is quite rapid. By improving liver function, it also helps the body to destroy mutated cancer cells so that they cannot spread through the body and cause more harm. Even more interesting, when Turmeric was combined with the vegetable Cauliflower, the protection against colon cancers was even more pronounced, leading researchers to believe the combination of cruciferous vegetables and curcumin could be an “effective therapy not only to prevent prostate cancer, but to inhibit the spread of established prostate cancers”. Time to start eating cauliflower with turmeric!

Improved Liver Function: recent studies have shown that Turmeric increases the detoxification enzymes in the liver, so much so that one set of researchers commented, “Turmeric used widely as a spice would probably mitigate the effects of several dietary carcinogens”. In our polluted, often carcinogenic laden environment, diet and lifestyles these days, this is very beneficial.

From cardiovascular protection benefits (reduced heart attack and stroke risk) to serving as a great source of vitamin B6 to further overall anti-oxidization, detoxification and blood-brain benefits, the health benefits of Turmeric continue to be revealed and discovered by new scientific studies each year.

3. Bee Pollen: *

Research studies document the therapeutic efficacy and safety of bee pollen. Clinical tests show that orally ingested bee pollen particles are rapidly and easily absorbed–they pass directly from the stomach into the bloodstream. Within two hours after ingestion, bee pollen is found in the blood, in cerebrospinal fluids and in the urine. By providing the human body with all the nutritional elements it needs, and in just the right proportions, honey bee pollen allows the body’s own healing and rejuvenation mechanisms to perform their normal functions of building, restoring, maintaining and protecting every cell.

According to bee expert Royden Brown, bee pollen contains differing quantities of a natural antibiotic which may support a healthy immune system. Salmonella and other strains of colibacillus were found to be affected by the natural antibiotic action in bee pollen as well. This may well explain why the health benefits of bee pollen have long included boosting of the immune system.

Scientists recently found that bee pollen has possibly showed a strong anti-estrogenic effect (it inhibited the natural estrogen 17 beta-estradiol). Furthermore, it caused no estrogenic activity or chromosome damage in the cells whatsoever.

Research also found that bee pollen showed a significant ability to possibly protect cells from the genotoxic effects of three common anti-cancer drugs – mitomycin C, bleomycin, and vincristine. What that means is that these cancer drugs may cause damage to our DNA (genetic code) when we take them. Not only do they damage and kill cancer cells, but they also damage our healthy cells (not good). Reducing this damage is very valuable and can potentially lead to a healthier and more vibrant life after cancer treatment. The details of this study can be found in the European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2010 Jun 9.

With the addition of roughage and water, the human body can survive on honey bee pollen alone. This is because it is the only food which contains over 96 nutrients including all known vitamins, from A to K, 28 minerals, 14 fatty acids, all 8 essential amino acids, several hormone-like compounds and all 22 known essential nutritional elements (and others yet to be identified), which humans require to achieve and maintain optimum vitality. Bee pollen contains 40% protein in a highly bio-available form of free amino acids which get directly assimilated by the body. Best of all, everything that can be derived from bee pollen is as broken down as it is going to be, meaning that the body doesn’t need to break the nutrients down any further.

While it might sound a bit backwards, bee pollen can help the body to build up a resistance to allergies by lowering the body’s sensitivity to pollen. This is similar to the way vaccinations can prevent disease. Bee pollen contains bits of the very same substances that can aggravate seasonal allergies, and by consuming it in small substances it can help the body to gradually build up a resistance.

Bee pollen is believed to nourish the body, stimulate organs and glands and enhance vitality. Bee Pollen helps to support overall brain health. Bee pollen’s ability to consistently and noticeably increase energy levels and enhance recovery makes it a favorite among many world class athletes and those interested in improving physical performance. It contains vitamins B, C, D and E, as well as calcium, magnesium, selenium, cysteine and a variety of proteins.

Some possible traditional uses of Raw Bee Pollen Granules may include:

9. Black Currant Powder: *

The unique composition of the black currant includes a rare yet essential combination of fatty acids Omega-3 ALA and Omega-6 GLA.

Studies have possibly linked GLA and ALA to a healthy immune system and inflammation response. In addition this power fruit may support healthy cardiovascular functions, support brain health and healthy skin.

The Institute of Food, Nutrition and Human Health senior research scientist Dr. Abdul-Lateef Molan and his team conducted a trial with 45 healthy volunteers who took black currant for four weeks. He found that consumption of black currants may possibly support gut health by supporting healthy bacteria levels. “The improvement was significant in many ways,” Dr. Molan says. “Firstly, there was an increase in the number of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, both of which may be supportive to gut health. Secondly, there was a reduction in the population sizes of some pathogenic bacteria such as Clostridium spp. and Bacteroides spp. Thirdly, consumption of black currants led to a significant reduction in the activity of Beta-glucuronidase. Lastly, there was also a lowering of fecal pH.” Dr. Molan says these findings show that taking black currant can offer significant health benefits because it acts as a powerful prebiotic.

A recent study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that subjects who were given a mixture of berries daily (including black currants) had a supportive reaction to their blood pressure levels and also supported healthy good (HDL) cholesterol, two factors that support heart health.

Black currant contains powerful compounds called proanthocyanidins, anthocyanins and a polysaccharide-rich substance, cassis polysaccharide (CAPS), and s macrophage-stimulating activity. CAPS have possibly been shown to support a healthy immune system response. Additionally preliminary research from the Horticulture and Food Research Institute in New Zealand found that the anthocyanins and polyphenols found in black currants may help support a healthy brain. Beyond that research has shown that black currants may generally support different facets of the nervous system. Anthocyanins also may possibly support a healthy inflammation response. The effect is similar to aspirin or ibuprofen, so many middle-aged and elderly people are choosing the healthier black currant over these drugs.

Oral intake of black currant may possibly support healthy vision. In the last few decades, computers have rapidly and steadily become a necessary tool of modern life and many people are suffering from computer-related eye problems. Long-term computer use has also contributed to the rise of modern lifestyle related diseases, often exacerbated by stress. Black currant anthocyanins work wonders by possibly supporting a healthy stress response thereby supporting a variety of secondary effects all of which are made worse by long-term computer use.

Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the number one cause of blindness in adults over age 65. Research and clinical studies have shown that certain antioxidants like vitamin C and anthocyanosides (anthocyanins) may support vision health and decrease the risk of age related vision problems such as cataracts and (AMD). Scientists have found that a plant based diet rich in flavonoids, including anthocyanins and quercetin (found in black currants), may play a role in decreasing the degeneration of the macula by keeping harmful free radicals from damaging the retina.

11. Pea protein isolate: *

We’ve chosen Pea Protein because it is a plant-based, hypoallergenic protein that yields a high biological value (65.4%). The BV is an accurate indicator of the biological activity of protein. It measures the actual amount of protein deposited per gram of protein absorbed. High BV proteins are a better choice for increased nitrogen retention, possibly supporting a healthy immune system response and IGF-1 levels. They are superior for reducing lean tissue loss from various wasting states than proteins with a low BV score.

Our raw pea protein isolate contains over 5 times the amount of Arginine as compared to whey protein isolate. Arginine, or L-arginine, is an amino acid that is needed to keep the keep the liver, skin, joints and muscles healthy. Arginine helps strengthen the body’s immune system, regulates hormones and blood sugar and promotes male fertility. In addition, research has shown that this amino acid may improve circulation and combat impotence and heart disease. Large concentrations of arginine are found in the skin, and this amino acid plays a key role in the health of all the body’s connective tissues, particularly the muscles. Arginine helps the body process both creatine, a natural substance that helps build muscle mass, and nitrogen, a chemical needed for muscle metabolism. Laboratory research suggests that arginine may help reduce body fat and speed up weight loss. Arginine has also been shown to help support the body’s ability to heal and repair damaged tissues, and thus may be beneficial to both athletes and those suffering from arthritis.

According to a new animal study from Canada, pea protein has shown promising results in supporting healthy blood pressure levels and improving kidney health. Scientists from the University of Manitoba, found that rats fed pea protein hydrolysate experienced a 20% drop in blood pressure when compared to rats on a normal diet.

10. Ginger: *
Ginger has been well researched and many of its traditional uses confirmed. It is well known to support the body through motion sickness, nausea and indigestion. It is a warming remedy, ideal for supporting healthy circulation thereby perhaps supporting healthy blood pressure levels and possibly keeping the blood thin in higher doses. According to Stephen Buhner, the author of the book “Herbal Antivirals”, ginger may possess anti-viral effects thereby supporting a healthy immune system response. Ginger may support a healthy inflammation response, consequently, there has been much recent interest in its use for joint problems. If a person has exercised too much or suffers from arthritis or rheumatism, ginger has been traditionally used to possibly put out the fire, so to speak. Due to its ability to probably support healthy circulation, ginger is thought to likely improve the complexion. It may conceivably reduce nervousness, ease tendonitis, and help sore throats return to normal. Studies demonstrate that ginger may also support healthy lipid levels.

This stimulating herb is warming to the system. In her book ’10 Essential Herbs’ author Lalitha Thomas describes the properties: “The major active ingredients in ginger are terpenes (quite similar to the chemical action of turpentine) and an oleo-resin called ginger oil. These two, and other active ingredients in ginger, provide support for healthy circulation.

13. Almonds: *

New research on almonds adds to the growing evidence that eating whole foods is the best way to promote optimal health and whole almonds (with Skins) provide the most heart healthy benefits. This is because the flavonoids found in almond skins team up with the vitamin E found in their meat to more than double the antioxidant punch either delivers when administered separately.

Twenty potent antioxidant flavonoids have been identified in almond skins, some of which are well known as major contributors to the health benefits derived from other foods, such as the catechins found in green tea, and naringenin, which is found in grapefruit.

Research has found that, as part of a heart healthy eating plan, almonds can reduce C-reactive protein, a marker of artery-damaging inflammation, as much as statin drugs. In addition ounce for ounce, almonds are the one of the most nutritionally dense nuts. As well as providing an array of powerful flavonoids, almonds are among the richest sources of vitamin E in the diet. A one-ounce, 164-calorie serving of almonds, about a handful, is also a very good source of magnesium, copper, vitamin B2, vitamin E, manganese, and phosphorus, and delivers heart-healthy monounsaturated fat and other nutrients as well.

One-quarter cup of almonds contains about 18 grams of fat, most of it (11 grams) is heart-healthy monounsaturated fat. Almonds are high in monounsaturated fats, the same type of health-promoting fats as are found in olive oil, which have been associated with reduced risk of heart disease.

Almonds appear to not only decrease after-meal rises in blood sugar, but also provide antioxidants to mop up the smaller amounts of free radicals that still result. Further research shows that eating almonds along with a high glycemic index food significantly lowers the glycemic index of the meal and lessens the rise in blood sugar after eating.

Lessening after-meal surges in blood sugar helps protect against diabetes and cardiovascular disease, most likely by lessening the increase in cholesterol-damaging free radicals that accompanies large elevations in blood sugar. This is one reason why low glycemic index diets result in lower risk of diabetes and heart disease.

Our Certified Organic 100% raw and untreated Spanish Almonds are high in fiber, protein, tryptophan, calcium, vitamin E, manganese, magnesium, copper, riboflavin (vitamin B2), zinc, phosphorus and make a delicious healthy snack.

14. Noni Fruit: *
Noni powder may help support a healthy digestive system and support healthy energy and vitality. Traditional healers have used Tahitian Noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia) for many health conditions for thousands of years. In the late 20th century, western science confirmed what millions of people have already known; the Noni fruit is known as the “Queen of Health Plants” due to its wide range of applications.

Noni nourishes the human body which may support a healthy immune system response. T-cells play a pivotal role supporting good health. Noni fruit may contain an immunomodulatory polysaccharide-rich substance (Noni-ppt) from the Noni fruit has been found to possibly possess both prophylactic and therapeutic properties in supporting healthy cellular tissue growth. Further scientific studies on Noni’s abilities to support healthy and normal cellular tissue growth are being conducted. Noni fruit is also being used traditionally for antibacterial and antiseptic purposes and contains 17 of the 20 known amino acids, including all 9 essential amino acids. Due to its nourishing qualities, Raw Certified Organic Noni Fruit may be excellent for supporting healthy digestion, a healthy mental outlook, healthy glandular function and a healthy inflammation and pain response.

Woman’s World magazine, May 9, 2000, quotes Dr. Neil Soloman, who has studied the effects of Noni on more than 12,000 people. He has found that it may support a healthy inflammation and pain response that is 75% as strong as morphine, yet non-addictive and side effect free. Dr. Soloman’s research shows that Noni is effective for a wide variety of health issues. The Woman’s World article sites additional research which details Noni’s ability to support a healthy immune system response and open blood vessels so blood can move through them more easily. These studies also suggest that Noni could help at least 40% of unhealthy patients combat their health challenges. Dr. A. Hirazumi, researcher at the University of Hawaii, School of Medicine, found that Noni may support a healthy T-cell count in the body. T-cells are like tiny soldiers of the immune system, helping to keep out invaders and toxins.

Alkaloids are an important class of phytochemicals found in all plants. The word Xeronine when broken down in latin means dry alkaloid. Through the research of Dr. Ralph Heinicke, noni was found not to have the alkaloid itself but a precursor called proxeronine. This conversion happens in the gut which is why it is suggested that noni be taken on an empty stomach. This will assure the activation of this molecule. Dr. Heinicke believes this molecule may in fact be one of the most “life giving” substances in food. Based on his research and because of its connection to protein (growth and repair) and cellular production he believes it is essential for the body to have this molecule in order for the body to work at optimal levels. And due to how our soil has been depleted over the years, noni is currently the best source of proxeronine.

15. Apple Cider Vinegar: *

1. High in acetic acid, which has potent biological effects
Organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (like Bragg’s) also contains “mother,” strands of proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria that give the product a murky, cobweb-like appearance.
Some people believe that the “mother” is responsible for most of the health benefits, although there are currently no studies to support this.
Apple cider vinegar only contains about 3 calories per tablespoon, which is very low.
There are not many vitamins or minerals in it, but it does contain a tiny amount of potassium. Quality apple cider vinegar also contains some amino acids and antioxidants.
Apple cider vinegar is made by fermenting the sugars from apples. This turns them into acetic acid, the active ingredient in vinegar.
2. Can kill many types of bacteria
Vinegar can help kill pathogens, including bacteria (2).
The main substance in vinegar, acetic acid, can kill bacteria and/or prevent them from multiplying and reaching harmful levels. It has a history of use as a disinfectant and natural preservative.
3. Lowers blood sugar levels and fights diabetes
By far the most successful application of vinegar to date, is in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is characterized by elevated blood sugars, either in the context of insulin resistance or an inability to produce insulin.
However, elevated blood sugar can also be a problem in people who don’t have diabetes… it is believed to be a major cause of ageing and various chronic diseases.
So, pretty much everyone should benefit from keeping their blood sugar levels stable.
The most effective (and healthiest) way to do that is to avoid refined carbs and sugar, but apple cider vinegar may also have a powerful effect.
Vinegar has been shown to have numerous benefits for insulin function and blood sugar levels:
Improves insulin sensitivity during a high-carb meal by 19-34% and significantly lowers blood glucose and insulin responses (7).
Reduces blood sugar by 34% when eating 50 grams of white bread (8).
2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before bedtime can reduce fasting blood sugars by 4% (9).
Numerous other studies, in both rats and humans, show that vinegar can increase insulin sensitivity and significantly lower blood sugar responses during meals (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15).
For these reasons, vinegar can be useful for people with diabetes, pre-diabetes, or those who want to keep their blood sugar levels low to normal for other reasons.
If you’re currently taking blood sugar lowering medications, then check with your doctor before increasing your intake of apple cider vinegar.
Apple cider vinegar has shown great promise in improving insulin sensitivity and helping to lower blood sugar responses after meals.
4. Helps you lose weight by making you feel full
Given that vinegar lowers blood sugar and insulin levels, it makes sense that it could help you lose weight.
Several human studies suggest that vinegar can increase satiety, help you eat fewer calories and even lead to actual pounds lost on the scale.
Vinegar along with high-carb meals can increase feelings of fullness and make people eat 200-275 fewer calories for the rest of the day (16, 17).
By reducing calorie intake, this should translate to reduced weight over time.
A study in obese individuals showed that daily vinegar consumption led to reduced belly fat, waist circumference, lower blood triglycerides and weight loss (18):
15 mL (1 tablespoon): Lost 2.6 pounds, or 1.2 kilograms.
30 mL (2 tablespoons): Lost 3.7 pounds, or 1.7 kilograms.
However… keep in mind that this study went on for 12 weeks, so the true effects on body weight seem to be rather modest.
Studies suggest that vinegar can increase feelings of fullness and help people eat fewer calories, which can lead to weight loss.
5. Lowers cholesterol and reduces your risk of heart disease
Cardiovascular disease (heart disease and stroke) is currently the world’s biggest cause of death (19).
It is known that several measurable biological factors are linked to either a decreased or increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
Several of these “risk factors” have been shown to be improved by vinegar consumption… but all of the studies were done in rats.
These rat studies showed that apple cider vinegar can lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels (20, 21).
Apple cider vinegar may also contain the antioxidant chlorogenic acid, which has been shown to protect LDL cholesterol particles from becoming oxidized, a crucial step in the heart disease process (22, 23).
There are also some studies showing that vinegar reduces blood pressure (a major risk factor) in rats (24, 25).
Unfortunately, what works in animals doesn’t always work in humans.
The only human evidence is an observational study from Harvard showing that women who ate salad dressings with vinegar had a reduced risk of heart disease (26).
But this type of study can only show an association, it can not prove that the vinegar caused anything.
At the end of the day, apple cider vinegar appears to be very healthy.
It’s not a “miracle” or a “cure-all” like some people seem to believe, but it does clearly have some important health benefits, especially for blood sugar and weight control.

16. Honey: *

The processing of honey often removes many of the phytonutrients found in raw honey as it exists in the hive. Raw honey, for example, contains small amounts of the same resins found in propolis. Propolis, sometimes called “bee glue,” is actually a complex mixture of resins and other substances that honeybees use to seal the hive and make it safe from bacteria and other micro-organisms. Honeybees make propolis by combining plant resins with their own secretions.

The resins found in propolis only represent a small part of the phytonutrients found in propolis and honey. Other phytonutrients found both in honey and propolis have been shown to possess powerful antimutagenic properties. These substances include caffeic acid methyl caffeate, phenylethyl caffeate, and phenylethyl dimethyl caffeate. Researchers have discovered that these substances may reduce cellular mutations in the colon of animals by shutting down the activity of two enzymes, phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C and lipoxygenase. When raw honey is extensively processed and heated, the benefits of these phytonutrients are largely eliminated.

One major cause of allergies is airborne pollen from trees, flowers and grass growing. This is the same pollen that bees collects on their hind legs by going from flower to flower. In much the same manner as allergy shots build up resistance to an allergen, immunotherapy with honey can be beneficial in fighting allergies. By taking a small amount of local honey (which contains traces of pollen) over a period of time, a person can build up a resistance to the pollen. It has also been found that drinking four tablespoons of honey mixed into a 16-ounce glass of water improved the antioxidant levels in a person’s blood which helps support a healthy immune system.
Some possible traditional uses of 100% Pure Raw Honey may include:

● Possible Antiseptic properties
● May Reduce swelling
● Promoting better blood sugar control
● Possible Antiviral, antifungal properties & full of antioxidants
● Healing wounds & burns
● May Stop the formation of bacterial biofilms
● Reducing scarring
● Odor reduction
● Supports a healthy immune system and allergy response
● May Reduce coughs
● Possible Antibacterial properties
● Possessing large amount of friendly bacteria (6 species of lactobacilli & 4 species of bifidobacteria)

Finally the berry mix I use I wont list the benefits of all 4 of the berries. I think by now you are getting the idea that real health is just a smoothie away. Even if you don’t change your diet in any other way imagine what you will feel like with all those natural nutrients in your body why would you not want this for yourself every day.

Thanks so much for stopping by and please share this with your friends and family it’s there lives were talking about here.
